The Rites of Passage

Birth, the taking on of a new skin, gifted by Sithis.

Coming of age, when a person takes full possesion of the gift of free will, which is one of the greatest gifts which Sithis bestows.

Setting out into world, gaining independence from parents, when a person has the opportunity to prove their worth to Sithis, completely unfettered by the aid of others.

Coming of strength of body, mind and spirit. This is represented by acceptance into each of the Orders of Sithis. Each may take place at any time in a person's life, but she should strive to attain all three before death.

Death. A celebration, as the person is shedding the skin and hopefully (if she has pleased the Great Mother) moving on to a higher incarnation. The conversion ceremony involves the death rites being performed, followed by the birth, symbolic of dying as an unbeliever and being reborn to Her glory.
