The Sundering of the Orders

Once, there were three orders of Sithis. The purpose of each order was teach Her Children in the ways of a particular facet of strength, and membership of an order was acknowledgement of a person's worth in that area. The Order of the Fangs taught Her Children the need for strength of Body; The Order of the Thoughts taught Her Children the need for strength of Mind; The Order of the Souls taught Her Children the need for strength of Spirit. All acted as one under the guidance of Sithis.

However, after some years the orders lost their way, and began to serve themselves rather than the Family and their Mother. Each order claimed that its own incarnation of strength was mightier than that of the others, and in time the feud broke out into open warfare. Sithis could stand no more. The High Priestesses led an army of Gladius Dai to where the orders were fighting, and declared them disbanded. They were to leave the lands of their Mother in shame, or feel the full venom of Sithis.

The orders refused, and prepared to attack the army of the Church. Though they were vastly outnumbered, the High Priestesses merely shook their heads sadly at the once exalted Children of Sithis who were now so fallen, and called down Her vengeance upon them.

As the orders advanced, clouds swept across the sky and boiled, till they were the colour of blood, casting a sickening darkness across the land. Thunder shook the very earth upon which the orders stood, and then from out of the clouds flew flaming bolts of venom. Where they struck, flesh flamed and writhed with poisons but was not consumed.

Within minutes the clouds parted and the sun returned, revealing the once so proud members of the orders strewn like shrivelled flies on the ground, screaming in agony as their poisoned, twisted forms burned, but were not destroyed.
